Bassett was arrested in June 2025 after his ex-wife contacted law enforcement. According to his ex-wife, Bassett accidentally sent a video to his daughters that showed him filming under the dress of a third-grade student.
When speaking to law enforcement, Bassett admitted he recorded the video, adding that he did so “for the thrill of it” and that he knew it was wrong.
Bassett was placed on administrative leave on June 4, when he was charged. The Anoka-Hennepin School Board voted to fire him on June 9.
