Public Media Venture Group (PMVG) has launched TechBundle, a modular suite of shared technology services designed to lower operational costs for local public media stations while modernizing their infrastructure.

The new offering consolidates four core broadcast services — master control, transmission monitoring, traffic and streaming — into a single package. PMVG said it negotiated system-wide pricing to provide stations with enterprise-level tools at a lower cost than traditional individual service contracts.

“In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, stations need tools that reduce cost and complexity while supporting growth,” said Marc Hand, PMVG founder-CEO. “TechBundle was designed to help local stations stabilize their operations and position themselves for what comes next.”

The bundle is supported by PMVG’s “Solution Adviser” model, where the organization acts as a strategic consultant to help station leaders evaluate their specific needs and plan long-term technology investments.

The TechBundle includes four primary service components:

  • PMM Cloud: A fully managed, cloud-based master control solution that includes national content delivery, quality control, and 24/7 monitoring with no capital equipment costs for stations.
  • TSG Managed Encoding and Transmission Site Services: Provided by Transmission Services Group, this includes proactive monitoring of RF, MVPD, and streaming distribution, along with on-site maintenance and signal integrity oversight.
  • TRAC Traffic Services: A PBS-focused traffic service providing compliant logs, automation compatibility, and 24/7 response for live events and urgent changes.
  • Local Public Light: A streaming platform developed by Cascade PBS (formerly KCTS Seattle) that allows stations to launch locally branded streaming apps on Roku and web platforms to drive Passport memberships and digital revenue.

Jim DeChant, director of operations at Transmission Services Group, said the partnership aims to ensure 99.9% uptime. “Whether acting as a turnkey engineering resource or augmenting local teams, TSG will ensure signal reliability,” he said. “We allow stations to focus their energy on creating impactful content and funding their mission.”

The addition of Local Public Light reflects the industry’s shift toward digital-first distribution.

“Television today is streaming and digital,” said Kevin Colligan, Local Public principal executive. “Along with our TechBundle partners, Local Public is dedicated to providing digital, shared services to all stations at a price they can afford.”

Stations have the option to purchase services individually or receive an additional discount when opting for the full bundle.
