Brightcove Unveils 2026 Roadmap Focusing On AI Innovation & User Experience

Brightcove has announced its 2026 product roadmap, outlining a strategy centered on artificial intelligence and platform usability intended to bolster video engagement for media companies and brands.

The announcement marks a significant step for the video platform following a year of accelerated development under the ownership of Bending Spoons. The company said its 2026 initiatives will focus on two primary pillars: AI innovation — specifically targeting monetization, accessibility, and automation — and “Quality of Experience” to streamline workflows for customers and their end-viewers.

Since early 2025, Brightcove has integrated Bending Spoons’ centralized AI and data expertise to increase product reliability and performance. The company reported delivering 18 major platform enhancements in the second half of 2025 alone.

“Brightcove is built with our customers, for our customers,” said Facundo Alvarez Morales, Brightcove product lead. “We’ve used insights from hundreds of customers to shape priorities across accessibility, live operations, monetization and platform experience.”

In 2026, Brightcove plans to expand its AI Suite with several new capabilities:

  • Next-Generation Captions: Inclusion of speaker attribution, native real-time captions for live streams, and support for more than 90 languages.
  • Accessibility Compliance: Automated audio descriptions designed to meet WCAG, ADA, and European Accessibility Act requirements.
  • AI-Driven Advertising: Contextual advertising powered by scene-level metadata and sentiment-aware ad-break detection.
  • Automated Intelligence: Auto-generated video chapters and AI-assisted live clipping for immediate social and VOD publishing.

The company is also investing in foundational updates, including a full redesign of the Video Cloud to modernize the user interface across all modules.

Other scheduled updates include:

  • Player Upgrades: Support for iOS and tvOS Liquid Glass, alongside refreshed web and mobile player designs.
  • Social Integration: Native support for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook Reels within Brightcove Social.
  • Live Operations: New search functionality within Live Channels to simplify navigation for users managing multiple concurrent streams.

The roadmap is scheduled for delivery throughout 2026. High-priority features, including caption improvements, contextual advertising and the Video Cloud redesign, are slated for rollout within the first half of the year.
