The agreement extends a partnership between the two organizations that has spanned more than 20 years. Grass Valley will deploy its Alchemist, Orbit and AMPP OS technologies to manage signal orchestration and frame rate conversion.
The infrastructure will be used at competition sites in Italy, as well as at NBC Sports’ primary production facilities in Stamford and 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York.
“Grass Valley has worked with NBC Sports for more than two decades, assisting production efforts at previous Olympics and other major international sports events,” said Tim Canary, senior vice president of engineering for NBC Sports. “Their technology and engineering support are key components in delivering the quality and reliability that audiences expect from NBC Olympics’ coverage.”
The 2026 Winter Games, scheduled for Feb. 6-22, and the Paralympics, held March 6-15, will follow a programming strategy similar to NBC’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Games. Because Milan and Cortina are in the same time zone as Paris, NBC will feature live daytime coverage on its flagship network and stream all events live on Peacock.
The network will also bring back popular features like “Gold Zone” and “Multiview” on Peacock, alongside a daily primetime show titled “Primetime in Milan.”
“We’re honored to extend our long-standing partnership with NBC Sports,” said Jon Wilson, CEO of Grass Valley. “We’re enabling NBC Sports to deliver the scale, quality and reliability audiences expect across every screen.”
The Opening Ceremony from San Siro Stadium in Milan will be presented live on NBC and Peacock on Friday, Feb. 6.
The 2026 Games will be NBCUniversal’s 20th Olympic broadcast. The company holds U.S. media rights to all Olympic Games through 2036, including upcoming events in Los Angeles (2028), the French Alps (2030), Brisbane (2032), and Utah (2034).
