The update marks a shift in Adobe’s strategy by integrating industry-leading third-party models alongside its own commercially safe Firefly models. Subscribers can now access Google Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image Generation and Runway Gen-4 Image within the Firefly ecosystem.
“Creative ideas don’t always arrive fully formed,” said Mike Polner, Adobe’s head of Firefly product marketing. “Often, they take shape through exploration, trial and error, and refinement.”
The company cited internal data showing that generative AI has become a staple of the modern creative process, with 86% percent of creators now using the technology in their daily workflows. Additionally, Adobe reported that the average length of user prompts doubled in 2025, suggesting that creators are engaging more deeply and conversationally with AI tools.
The unlimited generation feature is available immediately on the web at firefly.adobe.com, via the Firefly mobile app on iOS and Android, and through Firefly Boards — Adobe’s collaborative ideation space.
Beyond simple generation, the platform emphasizes a “pro-grade” workflow. Users can generate assets and then move them directly into Adobe Creative Cloud applications, such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro, for final production. New features also include a browser-based video editor and “Prompt to Edit,” which allows users to modify images using natural language commands.
To encourage adoption, Adobe is offering a promotional window through March 16. Users who sign up for Firefly Pro, Firefly Premium or various credit-based plans before the deadline will receive unlimited image and video generations at up to 2K resolution.
The rollout comes as Adobe faces increasing competition in the generative AI space from both specialized startups and established tech giants by integrating models from Google and OpenAI’s GPT alongside its own, Adobe appears to be positioning Firefly as a centralized hub for creative AI regardless of the underlying model.
