Rockford City Council approves $300K for new senior center on E. State Street
After weeks of delays and uncertainty, the Rockford City Council voted 12-1 on Monday to approve $300,000 in reallocated American Rescue Plan Act funds for a new senior center on E. State Street.
Plans for a new senior center on East State Street suffered a setback Monday after the Planning & Development Committee voted 3–2 against a motion to delay action for three weeks.
In a surprising twist of circumstances, an agency that won city approval for $300,000 in funding for a new E. State Street senior center has decided not to move forward with the plan.
