Monday is the deadline to register to vote in the Arkansas March 3 primaries. The deadline precedes the opening of early voting in the following two weeks on February 17.
Those who do not register by the deadline will not be able to participate in the upcoming elections.
The deadline does not effect registered voters who may wish to change party affiliation to vote in the upcoming Republican primaries March 3. Those changes can be made before early voting, during early voting or even on election day.
To vote in Arkansas elections one must be a U.S. citizen, an Arkansas resident, be 18 years of age or older and not be a convicted felon whose sentence has not been discharged or pardoned.
Voting registration in Baxter County is available at the Baxter County Clerks office at the courthouse located on the Mountain Home square at 1 East 7th St. The office is open Monday to Friday 8 to 4:30 and can be reached by telephone at 870-425-3475.
