What could be better for movie lovers than a guided exploration of a classic Hollywood film?

Doylestown’s County Theater offers classic film aficionados a monthly chance to dig into specially screened movies through its Deep Focus program.

Days after the movie is filmed at the Doylestown theater, film goers are guided on a Zoom meeting through the movie’s elements, impact and hidden gems by Hannah Jack. Jack is a film historian, writer, lecturer and Turner Classic Movies (TMC) writer and contributor.

Jack’s first Deep Focus selection is Roman Holiday (1953) starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn and directed by William Wyler.Roman Holiday screens at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 1. The Zoom discussion event begins at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 10. Advance registration for all Deep Focus discussion groups is required.

“In addition to our first-run main attractions, we present special programming throughout the year,” the County Theater’s website said. “General one-time events, our special programs include a diverse collection of independent and classic films, works from local filmmakers and stage productions from London’s top arts venues.”

Jack picks the films. She has scripted TMC introductions for film Hosts Dave Karger, Alicia Malone, Eddie Muller, Jacqueline Stewart and Ben Mankiewicz, her website notes. She appeared alongside TMC’s original Host Robert Osborne to co-introduce a classic film of her choice.
