The owner of the historic Lutsen Resort Lodge, who is facing arson and insurance fraud charges, is now suing his insurance company for denying his claim.
North Shore Resort Company, which is owned by Bryce Campbell, filed the federal complaint last week, claiming Auto-Owners Insurance Company breached its contract by refusing to pay out a claim related to the 2024 fire.

The historic lodge was destroyed by an overnight fire on Feb. 6, 2024. Investigators spent more than a year working to determine what happened before finally charging Campbell with three counts of first-degree arson and one count of insurance fraud last month.

Court documents state that Campbell submitted a $16.5 million insurance claim on the day the fire broke out, WDIO-TV reports.
Records also show that Campbell’s companies were over $14 million in debt at the time of the fire.
His next court appearance is scheduled to take place in March.
