Winter storm, extreme cold warnings issued for northern Arkansas, southern Missouri

The winter storm watch issued earlier this week has now been upgraded to a winter storm warning for all of northern Arkansas and southern Missouri and an extreme cold warning has been issued for northern Arkansas and a cold weather advisory for southern Missouri as artic temperatures will move in during the day Friday.
The wintery precipitation should start in our area Friday evening according to Willie Gilmore, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in North Little Rock.

As for accumulations, Gilmore says they are still expecting quite a bit of snow in the Twin Lakes Area.

The winter storm warning in Arkansas runs from noon Friday until 6:00 Sunday evening. In southern Missouri, the winter storm warning is in effect from 6:00 Friday night until 6:00 Sunday evening.

The extreme cold warning for northern Arkansas is in effect from midnight Friday until noon Monday. The cold weather advisory for southern Missouri is in effect for the same time frame.
