Warming centers and shelters in the Twin Cities

    Warming centers open around metro 

When frigid temperatures set in, there are places around the Twin Cities where people can go to keep warm.

Below is a list of locations in Hennepin and Ramsey counties:

Minneapolis

Catholic Charities Opportunity Center (740 E. 17th St.): 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Hope Avenue Twin Cities (1229 Logan Ave.): 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Hennepin County Government Center (300 Sixth St. S.): 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Skyway is open until 8 p.m.

Minneapolis Central Library (300 Nicollet Mall): 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday though Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Peace House Community (1816 Portland Ave.): 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; hot lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Steps of Strategy (1803 Bryant Ave. N.): 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Lunch served at 12:30 p.m.; dinner served at 9 p.m.

Youthlink (41 12th St. N.): 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on all other weekdays. Open to ages 16-24 only.

American Indian Community Development Corporation (AICDC) KOLA drop-in center (1600 E. 19th St.): 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly.

Avivo Village North Loop: Adding 20 emergency beds for the night of Jan. 22 into Jan. 23.

Hennepin Shelter Hotline: Call 612-204-8200 to reserve a shelter bed.

St. Paul

The Holy Christian Church International (125 Stevens St. W.): 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. every night. Men and women are welcome.

Union Gospel Mission (435 University Ave. E.): 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. every night for men only.

Central Presbyterian Church (500 Cedar St.): 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. every night. This location is available for youth from 18-24 years of age and families of all types.

Catholic Charities Higher Ground Shelter (435 Dorothy Day Place): Call 651-266-1050 to reserve a shelter bed or visit in-person from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Bloomington

Oasis for Youth Drop-in Center (2200 W. Old Shakopee Road): 2-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Open to youths ages 16-24.

Hopkins

MoveFwd Drop-in (1001 Highway 7, Room 237): 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Wednesday; 1-4 p.m. Tuesday; 3-5 p.m. Thursday. Open to youths ages 12-24.
