MHPS officials discuss Attorney General’s ruling on broadcast rights for the Bombers

Following complaints by the Baxter Bulletin and articles in the local newspaper last August raising legal concerns over allowing KTLO Radio to sell ads on behalf of the Bomber Booster Club for football games aired on the Bomber Sports Network, which is owned by Mountain Home Public Schools, the school district, on the advice of legal counsel, pulled Mountain Home football games off of the school’s streaming platform. The games this past season were then streamed on KTLO and XL7’s YouTube pages.
In the Bulletin article by Managing Editor Sonny Elliott, he said they would be requesting an opinion by Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin on whether intellectual property (broadcast rights) could be considered real property under Arkansas Code Title 6. If it is, it could not be sold by a third party, in this case, KTLO.

Griffin issued his ruling earlier this month, and Mountain Home Public Schools local counsel Roger Morgan says the opinion sides with the school and the radio station.

Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allyson Dewey says they are glad to hear there were no problems with the Bomber Sports Network and they are looking forward to moving ahead.
