Cotter High School awarded bonuses for student academic performances at January board meeting

In a meeting lasting nearly two hours last Thursday the Cotter Public School Board met in regular session and awarded bonuses to high school staff for recent academic achievements.

Cotter High School Principal, Jarod Jefferson, presented to the Board that the high school had received an award from the Arkansas School Recognition Program for being in the top 6-10 percent of all public high schools in the state in student performance and academic growth.





Superintendent Jones recommended the Board approve a one-time bonus to be given to Cotter High School staff. The Board unanimously approved the bonus.

Board member Allen Franks recommended that Superintendent Jayme Jones’ contract be extended for one year. The motion carried unanimously.

Board member Cameron Ross made the motion, seconded by Jimmy Morgan, to approve increasing the Superintendent’s salary by 5 percent. The motion carried unanimously.

Also during the meeting Superintendent Jones presented the Board with Certificates of Appreciation for their service to the Cotter School District for the School Year 2025-2026. All board members completed the six hours of continuing education credit required during the 2025 calendar year.
