The Braham Area High School entered code yellow lockdown on Wednesday morning over a false rumor that a student had brought a gun to school.
According to the high school, the lockdown was initiated as part of its safety protocol to investigate a student rumor, which was later proven false.
The Braham Area High School said the rumors began when a student told others they had received a BB gun as a gift over the holidays. A rumor then started that the student had a gun and had brought it to school.
Local law enforcement concluded that no gun was ever taken into the school, nor was the BB gun.
The district said it appreciates anytime a student reports concerning information they hear and said they would always follow up to investigate the claims
