Samsung Enhances AI Appliance Line

Samsung’s Digital Appliances chief Cheolgi Kim introduces the AI-enhanced line at last week’s CES.

Adds AI abilities to multiple product categories

Samsung is riding the AI wave this year by upgrading its Bespoke AI Laundry Combo and Family Hub refrigerator, and bringing AI capabilities to additional home appliances.

The new lineup, which carries the banner of “AI-Connected Living,” was highlighted at last week’s CES 2026 tech extravaganza in Las Vegas. Samsung said product improvements include smarter fabric care, intuitive temperature control and more convenient cleaning experiences thanks to the merger of “AI-powered customized care and hardware-supported performance.”

The goal, said Cheolgi Kim, executive VP and head of Samsung’s Digital Appliances Division, is to evolve from offering home appliances to providing “true home companions” that work to eliminate the stress of daily chores.

According to Jeong Seung Moon, head of the Digital Appliances R&D team, the improvements were developed by “integrating valuable customer feedback and leveraging the R&D expertise we have accumulated over the years. Through our continuous innovation, we are elevating how users interact with their appliances on a day-to-day basis.”

For the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, upgrades include shortened wash-to-dry cycles, greater drying performance and smarter fabric care. Specifically, the “super speed” cycle leverages a high-pressure speed spray that improves detergent penetration and rinsing to enable fast and efficient washing, while a newly incorporated booster heat exchanger improves the drying process.

The new Combo unit also features an upgraded “Auto Open Door+,” which automatically opens the door and activates internal air circulation after wash-only cycles, to keep damp laundry from developing a musty odor. Additionally, an advanced “AI Wash & Dry+” feature uses multiple sensors to optimize performance for each load. The sensors determine laundry weight to set the right amount of water and detergent; identify five fabric types including outdoor and denim; and monitor soil levels in real time.

What’s more, an upgraded lint filter now features a one-touch design for easier cleaning, and a large dual-layer capture area to provide thorough collection of lint and particles, Samsung said.

There’s also a new, more affordable Combo model with a smaller, 2.8-inch (vs. 7 inch) LCD screen and a jog dial.

On the fridge front, the Family Hub now features enhanced AI Vision built with Google Gemini, which improves food recognition to seamlessly track what’s being added and removed from its shelves. Select models also provide recipe recommendations and step-by-step cooking guides based on the foodstuffs inside, and the selected recipe can also be sent to connected cooking appliances to begin the process seamlessly.

Owners can also receive FoodNote, a new weekly report that recaps their food intake patterns and indicates which food items need to be restocked.

Elsewhere, Samsung’s Bespoke AI AirDresser now features an Auto Wrinkle Care function that uses enhanced Dual AirWash and Dual JetSteam systems to smooth out wrinkles quickly and easily. The Dual JetSteam also effectively freshens clothing by infusing high temperature heat deep into the fabric, reducing certain viruses and bacteria by 99.9% and eliminating 99% of unpleasant odors, the company said.

The AI AirDresser also works in tandem with the AI Laundry Combo via an Auto Cycle Link that recommends an appropriate drying course once a wash cycle ends.

Likewise, this year’s new WindFree room air conditioner also incorporates AI technology, albeit to address a key attribute that, according to Samsung, influences customer purchasing decisions: wind modes. Using radar-based AI technology, the system senses user presence and automatically directs or diverts airflow to enhance comfort via seven tailored air flow settings.

No word yet on pricing or ship dates for the new AI-Connected Living line.
