Our Community Cares: Into the Light focuses on prevention, intervention for trafficked youth

Leaders of the Mountain Home–based nonprofit Into the Light are celebrating ten years of tireless efforts to protect children across Arkansas, addressing child trafficking through education, prevention, and direct intervention.Executive Director Gretchen Smeltzer and Director of Development Jo Lisa Bloom said in a recent interview with KTLO News the organization works to raise awareness of trafficking while training professionals who work with high-risk children to recognize warning signs and red flags.

Smeltzer said education often leads to prevention and intervention.

Looking ahead to 2026, Smeltzer said the organization plans to strengthen internal operations and expand training opportunities, including partnerships with law enforcement and state agencies.
