Three MH students taken to hospital after bus accident Saturday afternoon

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) has released more information about the bus accident involving 16 Mountain Home Bomber band members Saturday afternoon in the Huntsville area saying three students have been sent to the hospital.
According to the ASP there was a collision at 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 45 and US Highway 412 between a Mountain Home school bus and a 2020 Mini Cooper. The bus was carrying 16 students who had participated in a band event earlier in the day.

Three of the children on the bus and two of the four adults traveling in the passenger vehicle were transported to the hospital in Springdale for non life threatening injuries. The driver of the bus was not injured.
In an earlier statement Saturday afternoon Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allison Dewey stated, “I am grateful to our bus driver for the quick response in this situation. As you can imagine, everyone involved is very shaken up. We initially prepared to send another bus to pick up the students, but our friends at Huntsville Schools have graciously offered to deliver our kids home in one of their buses. I appreciate everyone who has stepped up to help us in this scary situation.”The wreck is being investigated by the ASP Highway Patrol Division.
