Mountain Home man reports ,000 scam involving online dating site

A Mountain Home man told deputies he lost approximately $20,000 after being scammed on an online dating site.
According to the report, the victim connected with someone identifying as Debrah Dean on the site E-Harmony. The scammer requested money, and the man sent funds using Bitcoin and a $10,000 cashier’s check to an address in South Carolina. He also provided personal information including his date of birth, driver’s license number, and mother’s maiden name.





Authorities advised him to change his bank and credit card information, freeze his credit, and cease all contact with the scammer.
