The Society for Detecting Thieves & Robbers are hereby notified that their annual meeting for the choice of officers, etc., will be held at Warner’s Coffee House on the first Monday evening in January, at 6 o’clock. A punctual attendance of the members and others who are interested is requested. – Oliver Warner, Clerk.
For sale, the brick dwelling house on Pleasant Street belonging to the estate of Eli P. Ashmun Esq. deceased, with a barn, out-buildings, garden, etc., all in good order. Possession may be had in April next. Inquire of John H. Ashmun.

James Lucey of Gothic Street, who gained nationwide fame when President Coolidge told him the day after his election, “If it were not for you, I should not be here,” has received another token of esteem from the Coolidges — a Christmas present of three boxes of the best Havana cigars.
The inauguration of Mayor-elect William M. Welch will take place Monday evening in high school hall at 7:30 o’clock. Announcing his arrangements today for the event, Mr. Welch declared the evening was chosen in deference to the wishes of many members of the incoming city council who would be inconvenienced should the exercises take place in the morning as has been the most recent custom.

Bruce M. Fogel of Meadowbrook Apartments, son of Atty. David and Mrs. Rita A. Fogel of 777 Bridge Road, has been admitted to the practice of law. The younger Fogel, who will be associated with his father’s Northampton law firm, is a graduate of Northampton High School, Columbia College and Western New England School of Law.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which is evaluating a permit request for a 150-boat marina at the Connecticut River Oxbow, has tentatively decided that the project does not require an environmental impact statement. The project has been a source of controversy for more than a year.
