Moore said he initially went into the store to pick up an item for his girlfriend, but decided to purchase a Loteria scratch-off after noticing the game. Having won small prizes on the game in the past, he said he thought he would try his luck once more.
When he scratched the ticket at home, Moore quickly realized he had won a top prize.
“I thought, ‘No way,’” Moore said.
Still unsure, Moore showed the ticket to his girlfriend and a friend, and the group carefully inspected it to make sure it was legitimate.
“We were getting magnifying glasses out,” Moore’s girlfriend said, adding they even took photos to zoom in for a closer look.
The group headed to the Claim Center the following morning, where Moore officially collected the $75,000 prize.
“I’m still in shock,” Moore told lottery officials. “I haven’t been to sleep yet.”
The win comes as Arkansas Lottery players across the state continue to cash in. A Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Bella Vista for the Dec. 22 drawing. The winning numbers were 3, 18, 36, 41 and 54, with a Powerball number of 7 and a Power Play multiplier of 2. The ticket matched four of the five numbers plus the Powerball to claim the prize.
That follows another Powerball ticket worth $150,000 sold in Pine Bluff for the Dec. 20 drawing. That ticket remains unclaimed, and the winner has 180 days from the draw date to collect.
The Powerball jackpot now stands at $1.7 billion.
