Qdoba Signs Four Franchise Deals To Open Nearly 90 Restaurants in Northeast

Qdoba Mexican Eats struck four development agreements to launch close to 90 new restaurants in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The announcement came Dec. 10.

Doherty Enterprises will build up to 27 spots throughout New Jersey and upstate New York. This Allendale-based hospitality group operates 140 restaurants. Their portfolio includes Applebee’s Grill + Bar, Panera Bread, Wendy’s, Chevy’s Fresh Mex, and Jinya Ramen Bar. A company spokesperson confirmed plans for 15 restaurants in New Jersey.

The Rose Group plans 35 units in Pennsylvania and South Jersey. Based in Newtown, Pennsylvania, this operator manages 55 restaurants throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including Applebee’s sites and Shannon Rose Irish Pub locations.

Qdoba also strengthened ties with The Tattva Group and Cafua Management Co. These partnerships will fuel growth in Central New York, Upstate New York, and South-central Pennsylvania.

The San Diego-born brand operates more than 830 restaurants. Founded in 1995, Qdoba serves customizable bowls, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and salads.

Twenty-seven Qdoba restaurants currently serve customers in New Jersey. In recent months, franchisee The Integrity Group launched four new spots across the state — Hamilton Township, Marlton, Linden, and Secaucus.

The deals push forward a plan to double the chain’s footprint by 2032. Multi-brand franchisees operate about 80% of Qdoba’s restaurants. The brand now holds more than 650 locations in its national pipeline after these latest signings.

“Proven, multi-brand operators know what works in their portfolios, and they’re choosing Qdoba because it allows them to diversify into the rapidly growing Mexican fast-casual category,” said Chief Development Officer Jeremy Vitaro in a statement. “They see strong unit economics, a concept that travels well across trade areas, and food guests come back for.”

Doherty Enterprises ranks as one of the largest foodservice companies in the U.S. This family-run group also stands among the largest privately held businesses in New Jersey.
