Zoho launches Enterprise Billing and Spend management
Zoho Spend delivers enterprise spend management, including travel and expense management, procurement, AP automation, and Payroll. Combined, they deliver an enterprise solution that provides visibility into expenditure and income.
Sivaramakrishnan Iswaran, Global Head of Zoho Finance and Operations BU & CEO of Zoho Payment Technologies, commented, “With businesses increasingly looking for ways to operate with full financial visibility, improve time-to-market, and make smarter decisions, billing and spend management can no longer be an afterthought.
“These critical areas have become strategic aspects that define an organisation’s profitability, agility and long-term growth. With Zoho Billing and Zoho Spend, businesses can turn their billing operations into a revenue engine, and spend management into a source of savings. These solutions empower businesses to launch products faster, experiment with pricing, and create unprecedented insights into every major area of their company’s spend, including Payroll.”
The launch of Zoho Billing Enterprise Edition reinforces the messaging that Zoho has been making over the last year. Its applications deliver enterprise-level capabilities that compete effectively with competitors focused on enterprise solutions, at a potential cost much lower than theirs.
The solution has already been localised for 15 countries, including local compliance and reporting requirements.
The countries include Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Germany, Kenya, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It also supports E-Invoicing for 9 countries, which include Belgium, Mexico, Australia, India, Germany, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In today’s world, billing has become more complex than ever. Subscription billing, introduced with SaaS, is now pervasive across many industries. Revenue recognition has become increasingly complex to manage, and regulations such as IFRS and ASC 605 apply to more organisations than ever before.
Cloud vendors made consumption-based billing more popular, and organisations are exploring many other revenue models, such as value-based pricing.
Zoho Billing Enterprise offers a single solution that helps organisations manage complex billing, customer management, and reporting now required. It is designed to support organisations of any size with complex billing requirements. It consists of four products.
This module enables organisations to configure and manage diverse pricing structures, including flat-rate, tiered, volume-based, and hybrid models. The platform includes dynamic and sophisticated billing mechanisms to support billing for product and service consumption, subscription tiers, or custom agreements.
It will support different revenue models, including one-time purchases and complex recurring models. The platform enables organisations to streamline complex pricing and mediation processes to support high-volume transactions across multiple data sources while ensuring billing accuracy.
The platform also includes support for promotions, including trials, discounts, and coupons, and revenue managers can try out pricing strategies in a sandbox to ensure optimal revenue.
Revenue operations automates the process of collecting revenue in many different ways. The platform accepts credit cards, ACH, wire transfers, and digital wallets, making it easy for customers to pay, whether the engagement is B2B or B2C. Zoho offers secure payment pages and automates payment matching of collected funds to invoices.
The platform collects relevant data on revenue recognition and aligns with global standards such as ASC 606 and IFRS 15. It helps produce compliant reports and maintains audit-ready financial records. The platform also includes dashboards where business leaders can review financial performance and identify and forecast trends across teams, customer segments and geographic regions.
The product management team manages the revenue lifecycle for each customer, which includes trials, onboarding, invoicing and payments, including subscriptions. There is a customer self-service portal where clients manage subscriptions, approve invoices, update payment details, track billing history in real time, and provide feedback to continuously refine your offerings.
The product integrates with other Zoho Applications, such as RM, Marketing and engagement tools, and financial and compliance systems. It isn’t clear whether this integration includes third-party applications.
Zoho is also delivering a single reporting layer, supported by its AI Assistant Zia. Organisations can track MRR, ARR, revenue movements, payments and product performance in one place. Out-of-the-box reporting includes Days Sales Outstanding, Average payment (in days), Collections Effectiveness Index (CEI), and other standard revenue reporting metrics.
Organisations can also view renewal rates and churn by different filters. However, this is not a full customer success platform that offers reasons for churn or actions to prevent it.
The report builder is flexible, enabling the creation of custom reports and dashboards that can be personalised or shared across the business. Reports also have drill down capability so users can understand the details behind anomalies, or ask the AI assistant to reveal why revenue dipped!
Pricing for Zoho Enterprise Billing is open and fairly unique. Zoho has pitched the price at what seems a very reasonable $5988 per organisation per year. However, there are a couple of caveats. First, if an organisation’s monthly revenues exceed a certain threshold, a 0.2% surcharge is levied on the excess.
The revenue ceiling varied by country; for the US, it is $500K per month. Also, for larger organisations that may need additional customisation, integrations, and a more robust infrastructure to support operations, a custom quotation will be prepared. It isn’t clear at what level this customised quote would happen.
Zoho Spend is designed to help organisations to better manage their spend in a single location. The product supports Payroll, Expenses and Procurement in a single platform. Many organisations use different solutions to manage these functions. With a single spend management platform, Zoho can offer complete visibility into expenditure, enabling better tracking of total expenditure when employees purchase supplies through expenses.
The platform also supports budgeting and tracking of actuals against budgets. The consolidated view of organisational spend enables finance and business leaders to improve governance, curb maverick spend, turning spend management into a strategic advantage. The product consists of six solutions.
An extensive corporate travel management platform that makes it easy for administrators and employees to book and manage business trips with an online booking tool. Dynamic approval workflows ensure appropriate budget tracking and governance. With access to a comprehensive global travel inventory, organisations can seek competitive pricing across multiple travel and hotel options.
Travel requests can be routed to expert travel agents. The system will help with visa applications and track and monitor carbon emissions for corporate reporting.
Businesses can leverage the solution to streamline corporate travel, with self-booking capabilities for employees that offer policy-controlled options and access to a comprehensive global inventory. Organisations managing travel through a travel desk can automatically assign travel requests to agents, ensuring every booking is tracked, managed and completed efficiently.
The expense management capabilities automate the entire expense reporting process from receipt capture to approvals, compliance, control, and reimbursements. With AI-powered OCR, receipt images are captured and data extracted by the AI to save users time.
The receipts process also allows employees to split or tag expenses and name attendees to comply with bribery laws. A mobile application also allows employees to capture mileage automatically and record it for expenses with a single swipe.
The platform also supports complex approval workflows with support for multi-level, ad hoc, and parallel workflows. Approvers can track expenses against policies, allowances and budgets.
The platform also supports corporate cards, with real time feed on usage. It automates the creation and reconciliation of expenses, instantly eliminating the need for manual data entry and reducing the risk of human error. It is possible to synchronise Amex and AirPlus corporate card transactions with direct feed integration in Zoho Spend.
Visa and MasterCard Corporate card transactions are ingested in real time into Zoho Spend via the card feed, ensuring expense tracking is always up to date and managed with ease. Zoho also plans to launch virtual cards to further extend the platform’s capabilities.
The procurement module simplifies the entire sourcing-to-pay process. A dedicated vendor portal enables sourcing events, bidding, awarding, ordering, document sharing, collaboration, status updates, and invoice management to ensure transparency across the process. The platform helps manage RFQs, purchase requisitions, Purchase Orders (POs), and bills from a single dashboard.
There is also support for Amazon Business Punchout, which includes verified and approved item lists and rule-based buying forms enabling employees to purchase items within guidelines.
Accounts Payable processes are often the most manual processes for any finance team. The AP automation solution helps finance teams streamline many time-consuming processes. Purchase Invoice entry is automated using OCR and AI to scan and enter data automatically.
With human oversight, the system can then conduct 2-way and 3-way matching of invoices against purchase orders. The system supports complex payment approval processes, supports reconciliiation and generally accelerates the payable cycles with greater accuracy.
The AP automation capabilities help capture bills automatically with OCR-based scanning, streamline 2-way and 3-way matching, provide payment approvals, make batch payments, automate reconciliation, improve accuracy and accelerate the payables cycle.
A vendor portal supports onboarding and enables self-service capabilities, strengthening the vendor relationship. Zoho Spend also integrates with existing tech stacks, including Zoho and third-party applications such as Oracle and SAP.
Zoho Payroll is a full payroll solution that can process Payroll and pay salaries for hourly and salaried employees. For US organisations, it can file federal and state taxes automatically. It also supports payroll regulations in India, several countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia (KSA), Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.
This announcement signals a significant step forward in Zoho’s ambition to support not just national entities in the various countries in which it operates, but also multinational operations. The support across the Middle East is extensive, and it will be interesting to see whether it attracts the attention of Middle East conglomerates looking for an alternative solution.
2026 could be Zoho’s breakout year in the enterprise market. It already has several customers, and its pricing and sophisticated, integrated platform might now see greater traction amongst enterprises.
It has already partnered with several large global SIs, including TCS, Deloitte, Grant Thornton, and Cognizant. Will it add more in 2026? It is new applications like these that might persuade them to become partners through customers seeking alternative solutions.
There are still some gaps in the functionality, especially localisation for Europe, but as opportunities emerge, Zoho is likely to invest in bringing localisation to new regions.
