Newark Streets To Close Dec. 13 for Film Production During Two Prudential Center Events

Downtown Newark will see street closures on Saturday, Dec. 13. The shutdowns run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for filming. This happens while Prudential Center hosts two games.

The Devils take on the Anaheim Ducks at 12:30 p.m. Later, Seton Hall battles Rutgers in a basketball game tipping off at 8 p.m.

Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. warned that major downtown roads will be affected. Drivers should find different ways to get around and leave early because traffic will back up near the filming locations.

Broad Street will shut down periodically between Market Street and Raymond Boulevard. Academy Street from Halsey Street to Broad Street faces similar interruptions.

Commerce Street between Mulberry Street and Broad Street will close at times. Clinton Street from Broad Street to Mulberry Street gets the same treatment.

Beaver Street between Market Street and Clinton Street will be blocked intermittently throughout the day. Commerce Court, running from Raymond Boulevard to Commerce Street, completes the list.

Hockey fans heading to the afternoon game should expect slowdowns. The evening basketball showdown between these two New Jersey universities will create more congestion as the day wears on.

Miranda expressed gratitude to residents and visitors for their patience during the disruptions. He urged anyone with information about crimes to call the 24-hour Crime Stoppers line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.

City officials haven’t revealed which production is filming. No information about the movie or its actors has been shared.

The schedule creates problems for people going to either event. Getting to the arena and finding parking will prove difficult during this 12-hour period.
