Staff report
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – December 9, 2025
Rumors of an immigration raid at Broadview Learning Center circulated on social media Monday as the FBI carried out operations in Bloomington, but school officials say no Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity occurred on Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) property.
On Monday, December 8, 2025, posts on social media claimed a person had been detained at Broadview Adult Learning Center, an MCCSC facility, and suggested ICE was involved. The reports appeared amid visible FBI activity in the city and word of multiple federal arrests.
The Bloomingtonian was contacted by the FBI spokesperson in Indianapolis Monday afternoon. While the agency typically does not discuss ongoing investigations, FBI Indianapolis confirmed that it carried out multiple operations in Bloomington that morning.
“This morning in Bloomington, FBI Indianapolis conducted court authorized activity at several locations, resulting in four arrests on firearms and drug-related offenses. No additional information is available at this time,” the FBI said in a statement.
The FBI did not release the names of those arrested, nor did it specify the locations where the operations took place.
The Bloomingtonian also reached out to MCCSC. On Tuesday, an MCCSC spokesperson said there had been no immigration enforcement actions on school property.
“There have been no ICE raids on MCCSC properties,” the spokesperson said.
Whatever happened at or near Broadview Learning Center on Monday, MCCSC says it was not an ICE operation. As of Tuesday, there is no public confirmation linking the FBI’s four arrests to Broadview, and The Bloomingtonian does not yet have the identities of those detained by federal authorities.
But, it’s likely the FBI will release a press statement with more information at some point soon, as they have in the past.
