Starting next year, Illinois will begin phasing out fluorescent light bulbs as a move toward reducing mercury pollution and reducing energy costs for households and businesses.
The elimination of Illinois' statewide grocery tax, gun storage laws aimed at preventing shootings and suicides, rules protecting undocumented students, and a ban on fluorescent light bulbs are among a list of laws set to go into effect on January 1, 2026.
