4 accused of firing at each other in Monday St. Paul shooting

Court documents show four people have been charged in connection with a shooting on Monday.

Eric Kapreece Richards, 22, Shataurus Orlando Dozier, 23, Kemarion Keith Thompson, 23, and Donnavin Travonte Dozier, 22, are all facing criminal charges:

Eric Richards: Two counts of attempted second-degree murder

Kemarion Thompson: Ineligible person in possession of a firearm, drive-by shooting towards an occupied motor vehicle or building.

Shataurus Dozier: Attempted second-degree murder, ineligible person in possession of a firearm.

Donnavin Dozier: Ineligible person in possession of a firearm, second-degree riot while possessing a dangerous weapon.

According to court documents, all four men were found near 1055 Fourth Street East in St. Paul around 4:45 p.m. by police who were investigating reports of a shooting.

Richards had sustained a gunshot injury in his right leg, Thompson had a gunshot injury in his right arm and chest, Donnavin Dozier sustained a gunshot injury to his left ankle and Shataurus Dozier had a gunshot injury to his lower left leg, according to court documents.

All four were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Shataurus Dozier, Donnavin Dozier, and Richards’ injuries were not life-threatening; Thompson was “immediately taken into surgery.” The severity of his injuries was not stated in court documents.

A witness reportedly told police what they saw, and investigators obtained video surveillance footage from a nearby business.

Video reportedly showed a Chrysler parked outside a store, where Richards exited the vehicle and went inside while Thompson remained in the driver’s seat.

About 40 seconds later, the video showed a Chevrolet Trax parked in the same parking lot 15 yards behind the Chrysler. An unidentified man and the two Doziers were seen leaving the Trax. The unidentified man entered the store as the Doziers made their way towards it.

At the same time, Richards was seen leaving the store, but as he approached the Chrysler, he reportedly began to shoot at Donnavin Dozier, who fled around the store, while Shataurus Dozier ran inside. Richards continued firing as he moved towards a nearby Dairy Queen.

The unidentified man who was inside the store also had a handgun, though court documents did not state if he ever fired it. Thompson briefly exited the Chrysler to fire at the store and parking lot before driving the Chrysler towards Dairy Queen. Shataurus Dozier fired at the Chrysler; Thompson was then seen falling out of the vehicle, landing on his back. The vehicle continued to drive towards the Dairy Queen, crashing into it.

The Doziers, both injured, regrouped at the Trax. They appear to hand their firearms to the unidentified man before leaving the camera’s view, while the man leaves the area.

Another surveillance video obtained by investigators reportedly shows Donnavin Dozier and Richards encountering each other on the backside of the business, where Dozier reportedly shot Richards.

While court documents allegedly showed Richards was the first to begin firing, it also stated both Doziers and Thompson are previously convicted felons and should not have been in possession of a firearm.

Both Doziers and Richards have been booked in Ramsey County Jail.

Thompson does not appear on Ramsey County’s active jail roster; 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is working to learn if Thompson is in custody.
