Check out a Little Free Library near you!
Little Free Library’s main goal is to allow communities to have 24/7 access to free books. Its objective is to increase local access to reading materials and to promote literacy.
“Today in the United States, more than 30 million adults cannot read or write above a third-grade level,” reads the website. “Studies have repeatedly shown that books in the hands of children have a meaningful impact on improving literacy.”
So before you bring your most recent, or less recent, reads to the local thrift store, consider donating them to Little Free Libraries.
You have likely noticed several of these Little Free Libraries in and around Cullman County. They are in areas such as Heritage Park, Art Park, West Point, Fairview, Baileyton and more!
Did you know there is a way to view all the locations nearest to you? You can access the Little Free Library map at www.littlefreelibrary.org/map or you can download the app on your phone. From there, you can type in your location and it will tell you the libraries closest to you.
These libraries suggest functioning on a “take a book, share a book” basis. In other words: take a book, leave a book.
