Poland Arrested Suspected Russian Citizen for Hacking Local Organizations’ Computer Networks

Polish law enforcement has successfully arrested a Russian national accused of launching cyber attacks against local businesses.

The arrest, which took place on November 16, 2025, is being hailed as a significant victory for cyber safety in the region.

The operation was led by the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime under the supervision of the Krakow District Prosecutor’s Office.

Officers detained the man after a detailed investigation into unauthorized activity on

private computer networks.

According to officials, the suspect is a Russian citizen who originally entered Poland illegally in 2022. Despite his illegal entry, he obtained refugee status in 2023.

Prosecutors allege that the man targeted an online business operating within Poland. He is accused of breaching the company’s digital security to gain illegal access to their internal systems.

Once inside, he allegedly tampered with critical databases. This type of cyber attack is severe.

When hackers modify database structures, businesses can lose sensitive information, suffer financial losses, and experience major operational disruptions.

Following his arrest, the suspect was formally charged with violating Polish cybercrime laws. The District Court for Kraków-Śródmieście reviewed the evidence and found the risk to be high.

Consequently, the court ordered the man to be held in pretrial detention for three months while the legal case proceeds.

Authorities believe this arrest is just the tip of the iceberg. Investigators suspect the man may be part of a broader network of cybercriminals targeting organizations not just in Poland but across the entire European Union.

Police are currently working hard to link him to other similar attacks and assess the full extent of the damage caused to various companies.
