Written from press release

FRANKLIN, Ind. — November 26, 2025

Indiana State Police are investigating after officers shot and killed a wanted man Tuesday afternoon in Franklin.

According to Indiana State Police, the shooting happened just after 1:30 p.m. Nov. 25 in the 1200 block of Mitsubishi Parkway, where Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Violent Crimes Unit detectives, IMPD SWAT officers and a Franklin Police Department officer were trying to locate a suspect wanted on several felony charges.

Investigators say IMPD SWAT officers surrounded a semi-truck where the suspect, 37-year-old Robert Bido of Indianapolis, was believed to be hiding. Officers gave repeated verbal commands for Bido to come out, but police say he refused to exit the truck.

State police said several tactical resources were used in an effort to de-escalate the situation. The encounter ultimately led to officers firing their weapons and striking Bido.

Officers provided medical aid at the scene, and Bido was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

According to ISP, Bido was wanted on several felony charges, including criminal confinement resulting in bodily injury, intimidation with a deadly weapon, strangulation, domestic battery in the presence of a child and pointing a firearm. He was also being sought for questioning by IMPD homicide detectives.

A shotgun was found near the suspect, state police said. No officers or uninvolved community members were injured.

ISP said the officers involved were wearing body cameras that were activated during the incident. Indiana State Police detectives and crime scene investigators responded to handle the criminal investigation.

IMPD said its officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative duty pending an internal review, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. Police said the investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
