CLAY COUNTY, Ind. — November 25, 2025
A 15-year-old boy was killed Sunday afternoon in an off-road vehicle (ORV) accident near the Clay-Putnam county line, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Indiana Conservation Officers said Clay County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call at 3:51 p.m. reporting that the teen had crashed an ORV and was unresponsive near County Road 800 North and County Road 500 East.
An initial investigation found the teen was operating the ORV when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, he was pronounced dead. Authorities said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers.
Assisting at the scene were the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Jackson Township Fire Department, and Star Ambulance Service.
