Orderwise ERP Drives Warehouse Efficiency at PROCare
As the company grew, the firm struggled with its legacy systems, struggling to process more than 50 orders a day. The firm’s growth was limited by manual processes and suffered from a lack of transparency.
Within warehouse operations, organisational knowledge was key as warehouse teams often relied on memory to locate and select items or shipping.
With an expanding product range, it decided to review the market in early 2019. The firm selected Orderwise for its powerful inventory and warehouse management capabilities. The Orderwise professional services complete the implementation project.
However, it was not without its challenges. The biggest challenge was COVID-19. Staff were furloughed and had forgotten their earlier training on their return. Orderwise supported them heavily post-launch to retrain the team and stabilise processes.
Adam Balmer, IT Manager, PROCare, commented, “Before Orderwise, processing 50 orders in a day was time-consuming. Now we’re regularly doing 200+ and handling far more products, all thanks to Orderwise making us more efficient. Orderwise works – the prompts, the accuracy, the flexibility. It means we can keep growing without adding more people.”
The firm went live on Orderwise in June 2020. The firm’s expansion has continued; it added national delivery in 2021 with its own fleet of vehicles. It subsequently integrated MaxOptra, a route optimisation tool with Orderwise. Orderwise also integrates with Sales-i, a sales analysis tool used by PROCare.
In 2023, it expanded its footprint and now operates over 75,000 square feet of warehouse space without straining the Orderwise solution.
Orderwise has also increased picking accuracy, which is currently over 99%. It is not known what the percentage was before Orderwise. However, rather than memory, the system tracks every component from goods in to shipping using labels and handheld scanners. Orderwise provides walk routes for the most efficient way to pick the required items.
The result is that orders are picked faster and more accurately, leading to improved customer satisfaction as they are turned around more quickly.
Balmer added, “Our picking errors are so low that even ISO auditors don’t believe us, we’re at around a 99% success rate. Having that level of confidence across the warehouse is game-changing, especially when you’re supplying complex, high-value bathroom components.”
Orderwise summarised the benefits that its ERP and WMS solution has delivered to PROCare since the implementation:
Tom Price, Director at Forterro, commented, “PROCare is a strong example of how a modern, scalable ERP and WMS can unlock sustainable growth. By replacing manual processes and legacy systems with Orderwise, they’ve gained the accuracy, speed and control needed to support their expanding national footprint. As the company grows, it has everything in place to scale with it.”
Orderwise is just one of the solutions that make up the Forterro portfolio. Thousands of organisations already use it to simplify complexity, connect operations, and scale confidently. An indication of its success is the number of customer stories that the firm has published recently.
Built on decades of ERP expertise working with distributors, manufacturers and retailers, Orderwise helps thousands of organisations. Recent success stories include Garden Naturally, Work Wear Mallusk and Nutrivend Ltd.
For PROCare, Orderwise has proven to be the right choice to improve operations and support its growth. While information about the project and its plans was not available, it would be interesting to see how it is looking to improve the solution, especially after it acquired Autumn UK, a leading Greater Manchester-based manufacturer of premium shower screens, doors, and accessibility solutions, earlier this year. This would have added another warehouse location, which Orderwise supports.
