Changes to Blue Cross SilverSneakersThousands of older Minnesotans are left scrambling due to the change.
Elderly Minnesotans using Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) are now scrambling to find a new way to cover the costs of their gym memberships.
According to the insurance provider, new changes are coming to its SilverSneakers program, which previously covered the cost of gym memberships for elderly BCBS users.
Now, the insurance company says due to high cost pressures associated with Medicare coverage, the program is no longer sustainable.
Starting Jan. 1, Lifetime and YMCA locations in the Twin Cities will no longer be included in the SilverSneakers program.
