Black light mini golf, arcade coming to east Sioux Falls
A couple has turned their side business flipping houses into funding for their dream business: bringing indoor miniature golf to Sioux Falls.
Theresa and Justin Kor are the owners of Pirates Plunder Black Light Mini Golf, which is under construction at 1503 E. 10th St.
Justin has worked as a flooring installer for 25 years, while Theresa was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years and he flipped houses on the side.
“It was a lot of fun, but we want to do mini golf. That’s where our passion is,” Theresa Kor said. “Wherever we go, we love to play. We fell in love the first time we played in Colorado Springs, and I thought it was the coolest idea, and we didn’t have the money to open one. And now we do with all the flip houses, and we want to do it.”
More than half of the 9,000-square-foot space will be filled with 18 black-lit, pirate-themed miniature golf holes being designed and built by an industry expert from Missouri.
The business also will include 17 arcade-style redemption games.
“We started this project over a year ago,” Kor said, adding that they looked at several buildings before settling on the 10th Street location, which has been a pawn shop and dollar-store concept in the past.
“It checked everything off our list, and we’re right there on East 10th Street, and I think it’s a great location.”
Their own kids are too young to work there, but “they’re very excited” by the prospect of miniature golf and an arcade in the family, she said.
The plan is to open in the spring.
