Authorities have released more information about the man and deputies involved in a fatal Cass County shooting last weekend.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) identified the Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputies who fired their guns on Sunday as Kaleb Cherne (three years of experience) and David Donner (six years of experience).
Both deputies have been placed on critical incident leave, the BCA added.

As previously reported, authorities received a shots-fired call just after 4:30 p.m. on the 8400 block of Old Agency Trail Northwest.
When deputies arrived, they passed a man, later identified by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner as 37-year-old James Weyaus, walking alone on County Road 13.
Deputy Cherne tried to speak with Weyaus, but he ran away, prompting a foot chase, the BCA said. During the chase, Weyaus and Cherne exchanged gunfire, and Cherne was shot in the leg.
The BCA said that Deputy Donner, who was responding to the chase, saw Weyaus on the road and fatally shot him. Weyaus was pronounced dead on scene.
Officials note that Cherne was flown to the hospital for treatment and has since been released.
BCA personnel recovered a 9mm handgun, holster and multiple shell casings from the scene.
The deputies body cameras were on during the incident and captured “portions” of it, the BCA said.
