Man who damaged air conditioner units at Georgetown Square after stealing sushi at Harp’s in court

A man who barged into the midtown Harp’s which was closed to the public at the time and then allegedly pushed over and damaged 23 outside air conditioning units at the nearby Georgetown Square shopping center appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court November 10.

Twenty-five-year-old Hunter Joe Munden of Mountain Home pled guilty to criminal attempt to commit commercial burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. He was sentenced to six-years-probation and ordered to pay almost $3,000 in victim restitution.

On April 24, Munden was reported to have first forced his way into the midtown Harp’s store. Employees told him the store was closed and he needed to leave.

Munden is reported to have ignored the employees, went to the deli area of the store where he stole trays of sushi and then left the business.

The employees at Harp’s gave police a description of the man who had been in the store and the officers were able to find the suspect, later identified as Munden, in short order at the nearby Georgetown Square center.

Munden, who was shirtless, unsteady on his feet and smelling of alcohol, was taken back to Harps where employees positively identified him as the person who had been in the store.

It was during the search for Munden that officers noticed damage to the air conditioning units at the Georgetown Square businesses. The day after Munden was arrested, those businesses began to review video from security surveillance cameras and discovered the extent of the damage done by Munden.

Munden has been free on a $5,000 bond.
