A jury convicted a 32-year-old man on all counts in connection with a triple homicide that occurred in January 2024 in Coon Rapids.
According to the Anoka County Attorney’s Office, Demetrius Trenton Shumpert was found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder (premeditated), three counts of first-degree murder (while committing a felony) and three counts of second-degree murder. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 8.
Forty-two-year-old Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, her husband, 39-year-old Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, and her son, 20-year-old Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth, were found murdered in a Coon Rapids home on Jan. 26, 2024.
Court documents state that his co-defendant, Alonzo Mingo, posed as a UPS driver when he, Demetrius and Omari Shumpert entered the home. Cell phone data placed all three men at the home at the time of the murders.
