The body of a Marion County woman, reported missing by family members Thursday, was discovered Friday morning. Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander says a family member found the body in a wooded area near the woman’s home. The rural Yellville woman’s name has not been released.

Law enforcement has named a man the woman shared her residence with as a person of interest in the case and say they would like to interview him.

Alexander says a deputy was dispatched to the woman’s residence on Broad Rock Lane Thursday morning, but found no signs of the woman or her vehicle. The deputy returned twice Thursday and met with family members at the residence and made entry into the house, but the woman was not located.

A missing person’s bulletin was issued for the woman and her vehicle.

On Friday morning, investigators were preparing a search warrant for the property and residence when a family member contacted them and advised they had found the body of the missing woman in a wooded area near the residence.

Sheriff’s Office investigators responded to the residence and executed a search warrant, completing a search of the property and collecting evidence.

The sheriff says investigators followed up with several interviews and are continuing to pursue leads in their investigation. He says they determined the victim’s vehicle was missing from the residence and now believe it has been stolen. The vehicle has been listed as stolen in a national law enforcement database. The vehicle is described as a 1999, Chevrolet four-door Chevrolet Malibu, maroon in color, with Arkansas license plate AWG-63J.

(Jimmy Ray Liverett)

Sheriff Alexander says investigators have identified a person of interest they would like to interview regarding the victim’s death. The person of interest has been identified as Jimmy Jay Liverett, who is a 49-year-old white male. Liverett had lived with the victim prior to the discovery of the body.

The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine positive identification as well as the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing, and Sheriff Alexander has asked anyone with information that may be related to this incident to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 870-449-4236.
