Tiny Onion’s Exquisite Corpses Transforms From Horror Comic to Card Game

Acclaimed comics writer James Tynion IV has been focusing a great deal on creator-owned horror comics in recent years, even spearheading a new publishing imprint called Tiny Onion. Tiny Onion’s first major release has been Tynion and Michael Walsh’s Exquisite Corpses, and it’s already proven successful enough to make the leap from the printed page to a strategy tabletop card game.

Tiny Onion has just launched a website for Exquisite Corpses: The Game. The site includes a printable beta version of the game (with instructions) that fans can play themselves, along with a playthrough video showing the Tiny Onion team and ASMR influencer ALB partaking in the game.

It’s not hard to understand how Exquisite Corpses might make for a good tabletop strategy game. The comic revolves around a group of wealthy families who compete against one another every five years on Halloween. In the latest competition, 12 of the world’s deadliest killers are unleashed on the small town of Oak Valley, Maine, with only one left standing in the end.

“The concept of ‘play’ has been at the core of everything we’re building at Tiny Onion, and Exquisite Corpses: The Game is our first big shot across the bow,” said Tynion in a statement. “Whether you’re a lifelong tabletop gamer or brand new to the experience, we’re excited for you to get your hands on the full game and tell your own version of the Oak Valley tournament with your closest friends/enemies.”

“I have had so much fun developing Exquisite Corpses: The Game,” said Walsh. “My intention was to build something that integrated well into the comics world, but could also stand on its own as a fun social strategy game. I’ve had a blast killing all my friends over the past couple of years as the game came into focus, and I can’t wait for the fans to be able to roleplay as some of their favourite killers from the comic book.”

The final version of Exquisite Corpses: The Game will be released via Kickstarter in Spring 2026. Fans can sign up on the site to be notified when the Kickstarter campaign goes live. You can also order Exquisite Corpses Vol. 1 on Amazon.
