Race develops for Baxter County Judge as Kevin Litty, Eric Payne file

The 2026 election filing period continues in Baxter County, with numerous county, justice of the peace, constable, and school board candidates officially entering local races ahead of the Nov. 12 deadline.Countywide filings include seeing a race develop, with Kevin Litty (R) and current Justice of the Peace, Eric Payne filing for county judge, Brian Davis (R), Mark Hollingsworth (R), and Henry Campfield for sheriff, Canda J. Reese (R) for county and circuit clerk, Jenay Mize (R) for treasurer, Teresa Smith (R) for collector, Jayme Nicholson Johnson (R) for assessor, and Sara Fischer (R) for coroner.
In Justice of the Peace filings, Dennis M. Frank (R) filed for District 1; Mike McDonald (R) and Teia Peters (R) for District 2; Rick Steiner (R) and Jay Sabella (R) for District 3; Dirk Waldrop (R) for District 4; Maryanne Edge (R) for District 5; Lisa J. House (R) for District 6; Brian Ades (R) and Bob Nault (R) for District 7; Edward Griffin (R) and Micha Johnson (D) for District 8; James Baker (R) and Cameron Davis (R) for District 9; Shannon Walker (R) for District 10; and Tom Canta (R) and Danny Woods (R) for District 11.

Constable races include Douglas Stephens (R) and John Pate (R) for District 1, Julie Little (R) for District 4, Ben Burnett (R) for District 5, Tyler Brown (R) for District 8, Billy Cox (R) for District 9, Ronald L. Weaver (R) for District 10, and Frankie Baker (R) for District 11.

In school board elections, Andrew Slater, Allen Franks, and Jimmy Morgan filed for the Cotter School Board; Tommy Knight, Barbara Horton, and Scott Booth filed for the Mountain Home School Board; and Darin Hughes and Steven Braun filed for the Norfork School Board.

Candidate filings for the 2026 election will be accepted through noon Wednesday.
