(KRON) — Protests erupted at UC Berkeley as Turning Point USA held an event on campus two months after the assassination of its founder Charlie Kirk.

The event, part of the “This is the Turning Point” tour, drew significant opposition from students and community members, resulting in violent clashes and several arrests.

The protests began in the afternoon and continued throughout the evening, with attendees leaving the event in red MAGA hats amidst chants and jeers from demonstrators.

A heavy police presence was maintained to prevent protestors from entering the event space.

Tensions escalated when police intervened to break up a bloody fistfight between a man wearing a red Turning Point shirt and a protestor.

Inside Zellerbach Hall, the event continued as planned, featuring speakers such as comedians Rob Schneider and Jo-Bob, who commented on the protests and condemned the violence.

The tour has continued despite the assassination of Charlie Kirk at the first stop in Utah Valley University in September, where he was scheduled to headline.

Some students expressed surprise that UC Berkeley, known for its progressive stance, would host such an event. Watch the full report from KRON4’s Sara Stinson in the video above.
