Stone County Sheriff Brandon Long says his office received a tip back in April that child sexual exploitation material was being distributed from a device in Stone County.
After months of investigation, the device and corresponding IP address were traced to a residence on Herpel Road.
On Monday, detectives with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence and Copeland was taken into custody.
Copeland is facing two felony counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. His bond is set at $25,000.
Sheriff Long says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed or the existing charges may be modified.
