The latest Culver’s in Sioux Falls opens today.
It’s located at 3300 W. Benson Road near the Sanford Sports Complex, across the street from Fleet Farm.
Franchisee Todd Versteeg, who also has locations in Brookings and Watertown, said he chose the site in northwest Sioux Falls because it’s “right off the interstate and just all the activity. There’s nothing up in this part of town,” he said. “It’s not new to the area, but it’s new to this part of town.”
The restaurant has drawn a lot of applications, he added.
“We’ve hired almost 100 people,” Versteeg said. “There’s always some spots here and there you can fill … but we’ve still got people coming out of the woodwork filling out applications. It’s been crazy even with Jefferson High School kids. I’ve got so many kids who just want jobs. There’s so many in this part of town, and it’s amazing how many people walk to work.”
The restaurant is a newer Culver’s design with a little more open floor plan, and “the lighting is by far and away the nicest in the region,” Versteeg said.
“Just the way we light it up draws attention off the interstate. We had so many people coming off the interstate who are so disappointed we’re not open.”
That all changes today — just in time for a week’s worth of basketball games at the Sanford Pentagon.
“We expect this to be a big delivery (location),” Versteeg said. “Especially when you get baseball games and soccer games and people don’t want to lose their parking spots. I think it’ll be a very busy location.”
Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
