The incident happened at a home on the 2200 block of Lincoln Drive just before 1:30 a.m.
Police say officers were called to the home and found two victims, ages 19 and 16, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were hospitalized and their current conditions are not known at this time.
Multiple witnesses were able to identify the alleged shooter, who fled the scene.
Officers are now searching for him and there is no threat to the public at this time.
McMurry University confirmed one of the victims is a student. They released the following information about his recovery:
McMurry University is aware of an off-campus incident over the weekend involving one of our
students.
The student was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery for non-life-threatening
injuries. We are grateful to report that the student is stable and is expected to make a full
recovery. His parents are with him in Abilene.
Our focus is on supporting the student and his family during his recovery. Local authorities are
investigating the incident, and we are staying in contact with them as appropriate.
Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time.
