Monday starts chilly for Charlotte area; snow possible in NC mountains
Skies are mostly clear, but don’t let the sunshine fool you; it’s a cold one out there. You’ll definitely want the layers on Monday morning, especially with a light breeze adding to the bite.
Monday afternoon, expect mostly sunny skies with highs only reaching the mid-40s in Charlotte. Winds will be out of the northwest at around 10 to 15 mph, making it feel even cooler. It’s a good day to keep the jacket close and maybe swap the iced coffee for something warmer.
Monday night, temperatures drop quickly into the upper 20s. A freeze warning is in effect for the entire Charlotte area starting at 8 PM and lasting through Tuesday morning. This will be our first hard freeze of the season, so it’s time to protect the plants, check the pipes, and make sure the pets are taken care of.
Looking ahead, Tuesday stays cold with highs in the upper 40s and lows dipping into the 30s. We’ll gradually warm up through midweek, with highs returning to the 60s by Thursday.
In our mountain counties, Monday brings a potent taste of winter. Highs will struggle to reach the low 30s, and overnight lows will plummet into the mid-to-upper teens. Gusty winds will make it feel even colder, with wind chills dipping into the teens and single digits by early Tuesday morning.

Snow showers are possible across the higher elevations, especially near the Tennessee line. While accumulation looks light, it’s a clear sign that winter is knocking on our door.
