Indy serial flasher gets 2 years in prison after being arrested 49 times, pleading guilty to public indecency

INDIANAPOLIS — A serial flasher, who has been arrested nearly 50 times since 2019,

has now received a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to public indecency last month.

Cameron A. Greenwood pled guilty on Oct. 30 to one count of public indecency, a Level 6 felony, and had a public nudity charge dismissed. He was then sentenced on Monday morning to 720 days in prison, but will spend less than a year and a half behind bars due to jail credit.

The charges against Greenwood, a 27-year-old from Gary, stem from an incident over the summer where he was arrested by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. This was at least the 49th time that he had been arrested in the last six years.

49th arrest

IMPD officers were called around 9:45 a.m. on July 24 to the 5100 block of E. 16th Street on report of indecent exposure. Upon arrival, officers identified Greenwood as the suspect who was exposing himself to a woman and arrested him.

Online jail records show Greenwood was arrested 48 times since 2019 for crimes ranging from criminal trespassing to battery.

In that same time, he was arrested at least nine times for nudity, exposing himself or public indecency.

“He’s got quite the history,” IMPD Lt. Shane Foley said after an arrest in 2024. “Our officers are responding to the runs and doing what they can to make arrests.”

In most of those cases, Greenwood reached a plea agreement or had his charges dropped.

One victim’s account

Greenwood’s most recent public nudity charge prior to the July arrest occurred on May 23, 2024. Jamesha Bell, an Indy mother of six, spoke with FOX59/CBS4 about the incident at the time.

“We were outside hanging out, just enjoying the beautiful day,” Bell said at the time. “Didn’t think we’d see a penis.”

Bell said it all happened when she and her kids were outside their house near New York and Dequincy Street, when a man pulled down his pants and began touching his genitals while looking in their direction. That man was later identified as Greenwood.

“I was just ready to go crazy,” she said. “I chased him from right there to Washington and Dequincy on foot. I don’t know why I didn’t get in my car. It was just out of instinct to just get him.”

Eventually, police officers caught up with Greenwood and arrested him. Charging documents filed in court claimed Greenwood had exposed himself at least four other times that same day.

Moving forward

Now, Greenwood will spend at least the next year behind bars.

On Monday in Marion Superior Court 35, Judge Charnette Garner sentenced Greenwood to 730 days – or 2 years – in prison. However, Greenwood had accumulated 110 days of jail credit, which doubles to 220 days off of his sentence.

This means Greenwood will likely only spend 510 days in prison, or less than 1.5 years.

Two days before his public nudity arrest in July, Greenwood pled guilty to felony criminal trespassing in Marion County for a case filed in February. However, he was given no jail time in this case and released without court supervision.

There are now no other pending cases against Greenwood in Indiana, meaning he will once again be released to the public once his 510 days are served.
