COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A freeze warning has been issued for the area overnight into Tuesday morning due to temperatures dropping below 32 degrees for a long period of time. A freeze warning is typically issued during growing season when cold temperatures have the potential to damage or kill vegetation, this also marks the end of growing season.

With temperatures dropping below 32 degrees for the first time of the 2025 fall/winter season, this is the perfect time to go over cold weather safety tips and to remember the four P’s.

  1. Plants
  2. People
  3. Pipes
  4. Pets

Plants: Cover or move and sensitive plants inside
People: Check on neighbors and friends
Pipes: Cover and protect any exposed pipes
Pets: Bring pets inside where it’s warm and dry

While this is not a prolonged cold weather event and temperatures are expect to rebound, now is the time to start thinking and practicing cold weather safety.
