FREEZE WARNING Sunday night, RAIN on the horizon

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Most of the ArkLaTex will experience freezing temperatures on Sunday and Monday nights.  Warmer temperatures quickly return later this week, leading up to the first of a few chances of rain!

Monday temperatures:  Monday will be a very chilly day. Most of the area will begin at or a few degrees below freezing.  A breezy northwesterly wind will keep temperatures well below normal as we will see highs in the low to middle 50s.  

Sunshine continues: The dry air behind the cold front that moved through this weekend will limit the amount of clouds that we see over the next few days.  Futurecast shows that we will see a clear sky on Sunday night and plenty of sunshine on Monday.  Temperatures on Monday night will return to the low to middle 30s under a clear sky.  We will continue to see plenty of sunshine on Tuesday. 

Long-range outlook:  The wind will shift back around to the south starting on Tuesday.  This will bring a quick warming trend as highs will return to the low 80s by Thursday, and lows will return to the mid to upper 50s.  Our next chance of rain will finally return next weekend.  Showers and a few thunderstorms are looking very promising.  Severe weather can’t be ruled out.  A second disturbance could bring more rain during the last half of next week. 

We could see a decent amount of rain during the next few weeks.  The Blend of Models shows that all of the area will receive at least 1” of rain, with over 2” looking possible over the northern half of the area.  Temperatures next week will end up being slightly above normal, with highs in the low to middle 70s.  Lows will be in the low to middle 50s.
