Forecast: Winter Weather Warnings issued for Chicagoland amid snow and cold temps
Chicagoland faces a cold, wet start to the work week as lake-effect snow and frigid winds are set to make Monday feel more like mid-winter than early November.
Morning wind chills will drop into the teens and even single digits in some areas, while gusts of up to 30 mph will make it feel even colder.
Forecasters say lingering lake-effect snow could drop four to eight inches in parts of the region, with highs only reaching the mid-30s.
Winter Weather Warning
A Winter Weather Warning will take effect for Cook, Will, Kankakee, Lake and Porter counties beginning at 9 p.m., Sunday, lasting until noon Monday.
La Porte County will go under the watch earlier, starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday and continuing until 6 p.m. Monday.
Officials warn drivers to be cautious as snow accumulates and roads become slick. Residents should also dress warmly and prepare for difficult travel conditions during the storm.
Chicagoland will be back to the 40s on Tuesday with a chance of rain showers and strong SW winds boost our temps back to the seasonal 50s for Wed/Thu/Fri.
