Swati Amin bought a $30 Carolina Black Premier ticket from BJ’s Food on Michigan Avenue in Asheville. Officials said she sometimes works at the store and bought the ticket one day after getting off.
The Carolina Black Premier game debuted in July with three $4 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Amin’s $4 million win is the only prize claimed.
Lottery officials say she chose the $2.4 million lump sum option over receiving an annuity of $200,000 over 20 years. After state and federal taxes, Amin took home roughly $1.7 million.
