PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three teens were arrested in Salem Friday night after officials said they were found in possession of multiple firearms, including an AR-style rifle.

At around 9 p.m., Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of three young men tagging a mailbox in the 4600 block of 39th Avenue Northeast.

When deputies found a white sedan with the suspects inside, they found open alcohol containers inside. One of them then ran away on foot, authorities said.

As deputies chased him, officials said the man dropped a firearm. Shortly after, he was taken into custody.

All three – two aged 18 and one aged 19 – were booked into the Marion County Jail on the charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

However, the 19-year-old was also charged with third-degree escape and resisting arrest.

Further, one of the 18-year-olds was charged with giving false information and third-degree escape.

The second was charged with giving alcohol to a minor, as well as a parole violation.

After a search of the area assisted by a K9 unit, deputies said they also recovered three handguns and an AR-style rifle with a drum magazine.
